Marmoreal Tomb Campaign Starter is quite a mouthful.

The Marmoreal Tomb Campaign Starter is Ernest Gary Gygax, Jr.’s project to bring his Hobby Shop Dungeon campaign setting into print/publication. The origins of the setting began in 1978 when Ernie was working in the Lake Geneva Dungeon Hobby Shop as a clerk. The project is a product of GP Adventures, a partnership between E.G.G. Jr. and Benoist Poiré.

The initial funding goal of $20,000 was hit in under two days. Three additional stretch goals have been hit since then including an expanded crypt map, cover art by Jeff Easley and a science fiction customization pack featuring James Spawn (of White Star fame). The next stretch goal, if hit, will feature rules conversion for both Dungeons and Dragons 5E and Pathfinder.

Greetings! I want to thank you for your online AD&D generators. I particularly like the one that spits out a whole pdf of treasure results, that’s a great idea! I have a request if you’re looking for a project: a pdf generator for AD&D ability scores, Method IV (i.e. roll 12 complete sets of 3d6 in order, and choose one). That would rock. – Alex

Well Alex, you get part of the request. MethodIV is now available as a utility along with the 3 other methods. I have not made it direct to PDF yet. Still, you can use the PrintPDF button at the bottom of the results to create a PDF like all of my generators.

Hopefully that serves your immediate needs.

Bring on the Evil Start

Guest post by Randall.

So, on the way home from work tonight I was thinking about old school AD&D and how people did not get bored even when they just had MM1, PH, and DMG and nothing else. I was thinking there must have been a lot more creativity and story telling involved, AND a lot more usage of NPC parties, which I think are a pain to DM, but would break up the monotony of more of the same monster encounters. Along this path I thought it would be very “cool” to almost immediately after character creation have the party meet up with a higher level NPC group and get robbed. All that time and whining about needing more money to buy more crap just got flushed! Now, what do you do? It would be very interesting to role play through such an event. Plus it breaks it down to the question What do you absolutely have to have to survive….and how are you going to obtain that gear? As a bonus goal to getting re equipped would be the Enemy goal.

Have you ever played this scenario? I just wanted to get it down in writing before I forgot about it but to me it would work in almost any system and at almost any starting level, when the PCs don’t have contacts really yet. You could say well hidden items are missed, but how many times anymore does anyone do that at the start? I would think a PC could rack up some great exp by role playing through the ordeal on its own. Let me know what you think.

I like the vibe he’s tossing into the fray. I haven’t personally played or run the scenario he suggests. It would be a lot of fun. -Mark

I finally finished the minor elements of the treasure generator. The form and function follows the general approach used in all the other utilities on the sight. Strangely, I started the project shortly before the recent announcement of the re-release of first edition to support the Gary Gygax Memorial Fund.

The generation process includes treasure by type, any magic, maps, or specific treasure class. The reference tables for the process are from the Dungeon Master’s Guide and Unearthed Arcana. Magic and spell lists use the U.A. table information.

Typos, bugs, and easter eggs may be present. If you suspect an error or find a typographic error, please let me know.

From the Files: A re-creation of posts purged from KORPG and subsequently reposted.

As posted on my now dead Tomes of Antiquity series at KORPG, I discovered a treasure trove of old files from the early 1990’s. Included within those were the AD&D 2E Character Sheet Front and of course the AD&D 2E Character Sheet Rear.

One person found them of use so they live on here.
