Gygaxian Anagram Engine for Character Names
The GAE utilizes Gary Gygax's methods for producing character names. Not everything he produced for name combinations can be algorithmically represented, since it is impossible to know his exact process or mimic the imaginative mind.
This generator first tries to find actual anagrams, then nearby results where some characters are changed and finally produces names based on how many characters must be changed compared to the original name.
The input name must be between 3-20 characters. All whitespace, punctuation, and numbers are removed from the input string. The generator uses multiple databases of names to produce results rather than employing other name generation algorithms. Input strings between 5-8 characters work best; optimally when inputing your first or last name.
